NHS England Reorganisation and Dorset

The below email was sent to all Dorset-based doctors on 11th March 2020 on behalf of Dr Caroline Gamlin, the Responsible Officer for NHS England South West (Dorset).

Dear GP Colleagues in Dorset,

I am writing to introduce myself to you as Responsible Officer for NHS England South West. You may be aware of some of the restructuring that has taken place within NHS England/Improvement. This has impacted on the geography of the teams and how they are managed.

NHS England South West now covers:

  • Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly
  • Devon
  • Somerset
  • Bath, Swindon, and Wiltshire
  • Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire
  • Gloucestershire
  • Dorset

Logistically, it made sense to place Dorset within NHS England South West Region.

What this means to you, as GPs in Dorset, is that the NHS England South West Area Office will be responsible for commissioning your appraisals from the Health Education England Wessex Appraisal Service and your performers list and revalidation management will sit within South West Region. The only change you should notice are the contact details for revalidation. The appraisal back office function remains intact.

I do hope this is helpful information for you. Please feel free to make contact with any member of the appraisal and revalidation team. We are all keen to support you.

Kind regards,

Dr Caroline Gamlin, Responsible Officer
